Sprint will pay $ 1 billion to use the 4G network Clearwire to 2012
Sprint Nextel and Clearwire today announced changes to their long-term agreement which establishes new requirements for wholesale prices and provide a minimum of $ 1025000000 Clearwire from Sprint to be paid during the years 2011 and 2012 for 4G service wholesale. Commitment of minimum energy are as follows: $ 300 million in 2011, $ 550 million in 2012, and $ 175 million pre-payment for 4G service wholesale for use this year, next year, and so on.
The companies also reached an agreement on wholesale prices for Sprint devices that operate on 3G networks both Sprint and Clearwire's 4G network. The agreement covers the use based on price and volume discounts and minimum payments as of 4G devices.
Clearwire and Sprint is also planning further collaboration to expand the ability of Sprint to provide customized solutions using 4G technology. It is expected to enable Sprint to better serve the company and the government's target customers with mission critical wireless broadband solutions for both mobility and local area network applications and expand Machine-to-Machine its solutions for large and small. Last but not least, this agreement also extends the right to re-wholesaling joint where the two companies to sell back the other networks respectively 3G and 4G to other parties.
"We are very pleased to reach an agreement with Clearwire wholesale price," said Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said in a statement. "We look forward to working with them under this agreement to provide expanded offerings 4G capabilities and solutions for Sprint customers."
Sprint really needs this deal considering that AT & T last month announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire T-Mobile USA. Sprint's acquisition of struggling, but in the case of loss, the company should be able to compete with two competitors only much bigger: AT & T and Verizon.
