Introducing The New IPhone App Guardian

I am delighted to introduce our new goalkeeper for the iPhone and iPod New-Guardian-iPhone-app-i-007 Touch. The new application contains a wealth of new features that have been developed based on the comments. I will develop this afternoon in the post, but I would begin by reviewing some of the successes of our first application. 

Since its launch in December 2009, saw about more than 200,000 downloads, received one of the highest ratings for any App Store application of new and dominated the news category, both in Britain and in many countries outside. Retention of users is much higher than 170 000 unique visitors – or 75% of those who had downloaded the application – you continue to use it every month. Well over 50% of the audience will get it every week and 25% every day (based on the use of December 2010). We learned a lot along the way, not unless you follow the expectations of a loyal and committed. 

 

Because we have chosen to launch a new application? The answer is very simple. The App Store has come a long way in the last 12 months, and now forms a large part of our way to provide content on a mobile audience, whose expectations are, quite rightly, will rise. We can not sit still. We are launching a new application updates frequently, to offer a wider range of content and will bring a better user experience. This means that we are able to bear the costs associated with development. The best way to provide this long term, we believe, is a move to subscription model – and six months £ 2.99 and £ 3.99 (£ 4.99 from July 15, 2011) of 12 months, we believe that the new App is a great value for money. This has always been an ambitious project, especially as we opted for a small fee for one time costs £ 2.39 from the beginning. While we remain committed to providing our content free on our website and mobile guardian.co.uk recently updated, it is clear that in order to deliver a high quality product for a single platform, major investments are needed. As we stated earlier, we are not going to close our first application for six months so that all those who have previously uploaded, which will continue to enjoy up to now (see FAQ for more information). In the U.S., where our goal is to increase our reach (only 8% of downloads to date have come from this vast audience), it was decided to integrate advertising and offer free application downloads New .

• A new way of looking at trends over the history of media and social guardian.co.uk (otherwise known as the Zeitgeist site)
