Tips and tricks to clean the laptop from dust and dirt

Most of us recognize the noise - the incessant whirring of the laptop fan too much work, fighting to keep the computer cool. You may put it into old age, assuming that the notebook is always noisy and heat until, finally, they just stopped working. It does not have to happen though. When your laptop starts to rise a little, too hot and shuts itself, may not be obsolete - it just might be dirty. But you still clean the outside of your notebook, the dust would be sucked into the fan, the crumbs fall to the keyboard and enter the vent feathers.
We have seen how to clean the inside of your desktop computer to keep it running smoothly. You can do the same to your laptop, but that job is much more complicated, requiring a lot of confidence in both technical and steady nerves.
To help you get started, we've compiled some tips on to unpack and clean the inside of your mobile machine.
Laptop model design varies greatly. You can broadly assume that the machine in the same range will unload in the same way, but that's no guarantee. The uniqueness in design can arise because a particular configuration.
In some cases, you may be able to access the internal parts you need to clean the panel at the bottom of this case. For example, if you can get to the heatsink, CPU and fan without having to disassemble your machine, then the cleaning process will be much shorter, easier and less likely to end the crying.
Flip your notebook over and have a good view now. See if you can identify the panel. There are likely to access the panel for the RAM, hard drive and optical drives, and, if you're lucky, the main board.
If you access the motherboard is not offered here, you may need to take a deep breath and partially disassemble the notebook.
As we said, assembling laptops varies between brands and models, but there are two main ways to get into the notebook at least - through the top or the bottom.
If your machine is accessible from below, you are lucky. This machine is often easier to dismantle - at least to access the bits that you have to clean. If your laptop must be cracked open from the top down, you generally must begin by removing the keyboard.
Our advice is never go blundering in. You should always start your teardown routine by the source and read the manual carefully. The document we're talking about here is one different from the manual that came with your laptop in the box.
This is called a service manual or maintenance instructions. How easy it is to get will depend on your manufacturer. Try visiting your notebook manufacturer's website first, and look under 'Support' for document maintenance. If this fails, try Repair4Laptop, which is a free database with links to the service manual and guide to hundreds engine teardown.
Garnish
Do you have a laptop that needs to be cleaned and the service manual. Now what you need is the right tool to start the job. We will divide this case into a tool-opening and cleaning tools for convenience. You will need a set of electric screwdriver to handle small Phillips and flat-head screws found in case the notebook.
If you have a Dell or Apple notebook, you may also need to find a set of TORX screwdrivers. A search on the Maplin website reveals you do not have to pay more than five pounds per set.
Torx screwdriver
A plastic putty knife or a guitar plectrum is a useful thing to have when you open the notebook. You can use it to dismantle the open seams, held together by plastic clips.
Plectrum
As for cleaning, you will need a similar tool with which you will use when cleaning the desktop machine. A can of compressed air, soft-haired brush and a small vacuum cleaner all may be useful. You will use the vacuum cleaner is much smaller than you do when you clean the desktop machine.
There is less room inside the laptop to blow dust around, so tend to gather in clumps. It's much easier to remove with tweezers. Do not be tempted to take the bits out with your fingers, because the oil was transferred into electronic contacts can aggravate the problem of cleanliness of your computer.
Finally, you will need some cotton buds and a little surgical spirit. Get them from discount pharmacy store.
Under the hood
With your kit hygiene in ready, it's time to delete some real dirt. Power off your laptop, unplug it from power and then remove the battery. We will target specific areas that usually need to be cleaned.
Keyboard
Your computer keyboard is probably the most contaminated part of the machine, with the crumbs, dust and dandruff drop into all day. Now imagine what must be like underneath.
Task one is to remove the keyboard and clean underneath. In most cases, the keyboard will be held in place by two or three screws, hidden under the clip-on panel that runs along the top of capital letters. Each different laptop models though, which is where you enter service manual
One last tip before you proceed: ground yourself before you start work to drive out any static charge. Touching a radiator or refrigerator, or better yet, wear anti-static bracelet as you work.
In most configurations, your keyboard will remain in place at the top. At the bottom there will be some plastic lugs that slide into the slot, so once you've removed the screws at the top of your keyboard can usually pull the unit towards you. Do not just pull out though - you will damage the connector.
When at an angle of about 45 degrees, you should see the connector ribbon underneath. Disconnect it from the mainboard.
Chances are that you now see a lot of metal or plastic shield, mostly covered in a variety of stale crumbs, eyelashes and tiny pieces of grit can be explained. Who knows how it got there, but your trusty vacuum cleaner can be used to remove it.
If, at this stage, you can remove the top of your case and get under the trackpad with your cleaner, even better.
Motherboard and case
Under the protective shield, in many cases, you will find the motherboard. In some notebook build you may be able to access it from bottom to top. Either way, there is little subtlety in the process of cleaning is needed here.
Any gaps in the casing will pull the ball of dust, and this can be extracted with your trusty tweezers. A light cleaning with a soft bristled will help to eliminate a layer of dust on the components. Make sure you sweep out of the case.
heatsink
Real target here is the heat sink and fan laptop, where the dust tends to gather and to have the most impact on performance. If you access from the case, proceed cautiously and make sure you keep track of the screws as you remove them.
Some laptop gives you direct access to the heat sink and fan through the panel at the bottom. If that happens, follow the above tips for dealing with the access panel.
Before we proceed any further, it is important to remember that if you have to remove the heat sink in direct contact with the CPU machine, you must remove the top layer of clean and re-apply a thin chip thermal grease before re-adjusting it. Use cotton buds and a little surgical spirit to do this. Wipe the old oil residue with a lint-free.
Once again, refer to your provider manual for full details about the procedure, which will vary depending on the internal configuration of your laptop. If you omit an important stage, your laptop may overheat and shut down. In the worst case scenario, the machine may refuse to power up at all.
Heat sinks
The next step depends on the type of heat sink used on your computer. If the sink, the heat fin-classical style, then you can clean in place without removing them. Dust in the heat sink can be compressed enough for you to take it for free with your tweezers in a single bundle of fluffy, continuously. A little cleaning with compressed air and a soft brush should finish the job.
heatsink 2
Often, the heat sink and fan is part of an integrated unit in one casing. In this event, check your service manual for removal instructions, because it is difficult to reach dust can clog under this cover and the ventilation.
A third general configuration of heat sink using a pipe to vent hot air out into the heat sink fan of flat or fin-style. If this happens, once again, it might be better if you remove the components to clean all the dust that stuck around and underneath.
Fans and ventilation
As for case fans, this knife can be removed and cleaned with cotton buds. It's never a good idea to blow compressed air into them, because they may be forced to rotate in the wrong direction, damaging them.
Before you shut down your machine up, look well down the sides of the case to find passive ventilation and heat sink. You can use compressed air to carefully blow the dust from the case.
cleaning
Finally, take a tour of the port in the vicinity of the machine. Angle nozzles compressed air to blow dust from them, take care not to blow over the entrance
Put back your machine carefully and you will be able to enjoy the notebook run more faster, cooler.
